I would like to expand a bit on the theme of our media as means of extending and enlarging our organic sense lives into our environment. Because "the Care and Feeding of Communication Innovation" can be discussed in quite specific and practical terms once we understand the way in which telephone and radio are externalized models of speech and hearing, or the ways in which the movie camera and projector are externalized models of our visual sense.
