Language was the first outering of the central nervous system. In language we put all of ourselves outside. Then we retracted and began to hedge our bets by putting out single senses like wheel (feet), hammer (fist), knife (teeth-nail), drum (ear), writing (eye). Each of these altered both private and corporate images, creating great pain and alienation.
