It’s fascinating to see how the children responded in their artistic activities to an audio situation, their work became less pictorial, less merely a matter of copying, less a matter of matching situation with situation, then search for abstract form, for the language of forms. To give the visual form, the non-visual involving appearance is a considerable artistic feat. These kids were beginning to understand that and by simply following auditory instructions, for visual situations, the translation from one medium into another awakened their sensory life in a completely new way. I was quite surprised.
