The computer is a new technology which has been set to the task of accelerating a variety of older jobs in the course of which it transforms and metamorphoses them. Thus at present the computer is part of that new information environment of electric and acoustic simultaneity via radio and TV. This new environment has the paradoxical effect of retrieving 'third-world’ non-alphabetic organization patterns in the very heart of the industrial world. It is relevant to note that the new information environment of electric information automatically gives dominance to the right hemisphere, just as the dominance of the left hemisphere had come from the huge environment of sequential hardware services brought on by Gutenberg typography and industrial lineality.
