[In their book 1967 book The Year 2000] Kahn and Wiener express all the warm human understanding and perception of most science fiction. Such merely quantitative projections have no human content whatever. Even as probes they are manifestations of human ignorance and insensibility. It says much for the desperate state of human values that quantifiers and planners of this ilk should be taken seriously. Until humanists have translated their projections into creative social dialogue, this kind of two-bit language can only eviscerate what remains of an embombers' world—awaiting its turn in the crematorium.
