Non-literate cultures are mainly oral/aural, even when they cultivate some nonphonetic
form of writing such as Sanskrit. On the other hand, literate cultures tend to be
visual and dependent on left hemisphere reasoning. The dominance of either the left or
the right hemisphere is largely dependent upon environmental factors.
