We’re living in a highly integrated life but we’re still thinking in terms of specialism. People will have to work like fury to be contemporary and relevant. The future work of mankind is to achieve relevance. Specialists don’t have to worry about relevance. Specialists cannot be pushed beyond a point. They are interested only in their own specialty – the rest, they argue, is none of their business. But in a non-specialist society, relevance will be our business.
