The pains that F.D.R. spent on adjusting his image for a radio audience were not misspent. He understood that the radio medium put ht President in an entirely new relation to the governed – a relation quite different from that created by the press. Indeed, he was at great paints to use an unfavourable press to enhance his radio image.
