The child who from one to six years experiences an adult world in front of a television is sent to school at six. He experiences there a carefully prepared child world for the first time in his life. This is very confusing. Most children may never recover from this traumatic experience which began only ten years ago. We refer to it as “loss of motivation”. As long as printing and industrial processes were parallel, a person could keep his bearings in the Western world. Today our educational establishment has not come into rapport with our own technology, and there is little civil defence against media fallout.
