The new political pattern demands idealism not only of profession but behavior in public figures, but this demand is made by people who are quite permissive in their private ethics. A new kind of hypocrisy has been born among those who have grown up with the new media. They now demand of public figures a level of moral dedication which they feel no need to exemplify in the private sector of their own lives.
