The Watergate episode…has reversed all secrecy into show business, and all privacy into broadcasting. The turning of the inside outside and of the outside inside, exactly parallels the power of the TV medium which threatens to reverse the American way of life. Whereas North Americans had for centuries gone outside to be alone and inside to be social, TV has brought the outside into our intimate social lives, and taken our social lives out into the public domain.
