We are now in the position to take a perspective of Watergate as a dramatic presentation of the information drama of our time. The actors in this drama have been "hoist with their own petard", since in all privacy and monumental security, they undertook to achieve total knowledge of their adversaries, only to find their own secrecy reversed into the utmost publicity of "show biz"; for among the many motifs enacted in the Watergate drama is the basic fact that secrecy itself is quite impossible to maintain under conditions of electric speed and pattern recognition.
